Overall Job Description

Fast removal of impediments, timely preparation of SAFe and SCRUM ceremonies, fruitful collaboration with concerned business and IT departments to manage any dependencies are the key tasks and responsibilities of the R&D Program Manager. He/she also assists the Tribe and Product Owner with idea funneling, as well as with timely prioritization and identification of requirements.



The R&D Program Manager proposes and continuously improves implementation-related processes that drives the technical delivery of his/her tribe and assures proper maintenance by the IT Operations team after delivery. When relevant, the R&D Program Manager assures that delivered functionalities are properly marketed by the concerned stakeholders.



Using his/her technical expertise and superb interpersonal skills, the R&D Program Manager works together with the IT Tribe Lead and the Product Owner to ensure that business and technical initiatives owned by the tribe are prioritized, planned and delivered to Production within time, scope and budget. He/she also provides clear monthly reporting to all stakeholders about the tribe’s delivery roadmap.

Key Responsibilities

Governance: Enables product vision understanding within squads and secure audit-proof requirements
Accountability: Is the accountable person for end to end delivery of the Program building a consolidated plan with all actors of the projects (Development, QA, Architects, Product Owners, Integration, DevOps)
Financial Management: Forecasts annual budget in terms of iterations and service increments of all EPICS within his/her scope on time for V0 and V1 portfolio budget exercises
Planning / Forecasting including non R&D deliveries: Setup and runs the Service/Program Increment planning ceremonies (cross Tribes) to define and plan the scope of the next service increments (10 to 12 weeks cycle)
Risk Management - Multi-squad level
Infrastructure delivery: Setup release management ceremonies in order to follow up and obtain proper release management visibility and delivery
Service increment demo: Setup service increment demo ceremonies in order to show value delivery and obtain feedback for potential release decision
Best practices
Build and Share Reporting: Measures progress of Epics deliveries within his/her scope with respect to delivered value and forecasted budget through his / her updated EPICS roadmap and EPICS burndown / burnup charts; Is accountable for providing transparency on delivery through monthly reporting and stimulate teamwork and team commitment

Skills and experience requirements

4-6 years of hands on experience in taking a key role in an agile SDLC, for instance as Scrum Master, Senior Developer, Product Manager or IT Project Manager
4-6 years in an international working environment
Demonstrated experience in large organizations in roles which include structuring of activities, estimation of time and costs, execution to plan, delivery of results
Experience in managing technical aspects of software delivery in at least three of the following areas: front end development, back end development, infrastructure, middleware, data warehousing
Ideally Certified from Scrum.org (’Professional Scrum Master’ or ’Scaled Professional Scrum’) or SAFe
Knowledge of CI/CD concepts
Experience in Financial or Payment industry in senior delivery roles
Experience working with geographically dispersed teams, onshore, offshore and nearshore
Experience in implementation of continuous improvement methodology (Lean, Six Sigma)
Experience with a professional, structured Project Management Methodology is a nice to have (i.e. Prince2, CMMI, PMI)
Ability to work across functional and business unit lines and develop and maintain a culture of partnership with the Group project and product delivery managers and between all parts of the organization

Demonstrated relationship building, networking and collaboration, decisiveness in negotiation, very strong influencing and persuasion skills
Excellent planning skills, ability to split large deliveries into small epics, features and user stories prioritized by value delivered, in collaboration with the Product Owner
Ability to build consensus in an environment of conflicting interests and ensure execution of agreed initiatives - always focused towards result
Strong ability to analyze complex situations and present solutions in a structured way at Director and C-Level
Assertive and a driver of change and delivery
Strong operational orientation
Strong communication skills
Ability to work cross-culturally and across regions and to travel internationally on occasion
