We are looking for an IT DATABASE engineering Senior Leader / Director in EMEA

For pursuing its Agile transformation & globalization, We are looking for a brand new role in EMEA : a Database Engineering director in EMEA.

Reporting to an EMEA leader in charge of DATABASE, TOOLS, Middleware & AIM, you will be leading an existing team (located in France, Czech Republic as well as dotted line in India) and drive a set of transformations in conjunction with other regions (US & APAC)

You’ll be part of an Agile organization & reporting to you will be

13 Database Engineers (SQL, PostgreSQL, Hadoop) located in France (10) & Prague (3)

2 people in india ( dotted line )

When required, external consultants (expertise on specific topics)



1 - ENGINEERING :

To lead Standardization & automation initiative with APAC & US (defining & reaching common objectives) like

Automating daily repetitive tasks by leveraging scripts, playbooks and automated deployment technologies (Jenkins, Ansible…)

Automated installation, patch, upgrade, etc

Harmonize installations over the world (same source, same scripts)

To lead opportunities of cost reduction

Drive Business case for Public Cloud solutions (AWS, Azure) and when relevant drive the transformation with the product owners

Analyze current costs ( infrastructure footprint like storage, servers, licenses) and seek for optimization (clean up, consolidation, virtualization)

To make the DBA team participating to the Development effort of the GLOBAL DB application

Metrics consolidation

Dashboard

Change management

Self Service portal

To push machine learning initiative

To do technology watch (meet vendors, seminaries…) aligned with R&Ds



MANAGEMENT



To Manage DBA team (HR, training, on calls, performance review, objectives)

BUDGET



To Manage DBA budget (people, consulting, licenses), aligned with other regions

STRATEGY



To contribute on the elaboration of the DATABASE STRATEGY (measures with Objectives & Key Results)

COMMUNICATION



To Communicate & be proactive with product owners (R&D & OPS) for anticipating their need & proposing added value solutions

SECURITY



To Manage Audits (SOC, ISO) and maintain the certifications



SUPPORT

With help of local DBA leader

Make sure Daily Support ( including on-call) works, as well as the DRP tests, audits evidences collection

Make sure priorities are addresses & Operation reduction is progressing (KPI)

Seniority:

A minimum of 5 years of experience as Manager

+ a minimum of 5 years of experience as DATABASE Engineer

Technical skills

Databases :

Mandatory : ORACLE RDBMS (10 -> 19c), SQL Server

Nice to have : MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Hadoop

System : Linux (SUSE 11, 12), Solaris (optional)

Clusters

Storage -> SAN, NAS, Obj Storage

Virtualization : VMWARE Hypervisor

Replication Tools (GoldenGate, Dataguard)

Automation skills

Knowledge on Development/scripting (Python, Java)

knowledge on Automation skills

Cloud Skills

Any of public cloud knowledge like AWS, Azure

Ideally : Product Management / Product Development Skills
